Kaplan-Meier curves of all patients with rectal cancer stages II to IV stratified by degree of care coordination
Distribution of PIK3CA mutant and wild-type colorectal cancers in the colon, rectum, and among mucinous carcinomas in TCGA study. Fisher exact test P = 0.005 for the comparison of PIK3CA mutation prevalence in colon versus PIK3CA mutation prevalence in rectal cancers. (B) Distribution of PIK3CA mutant and wild-type colorectal cancers according to location of the primary in the DFCI cohort. Fisher exact test P < .001 for the comparison of PIK3CA mutation prevalence in cecum/ascending/transverse cancers versus PIK3CA mutation prevalence in splenic flexure/descending/sigmoid/rectal cancers. Mutant cancers are more commonly observed in the right side, while the great majority of rectal cancers are PIK3CA wild-type. Abbreviations: ASC-TRANS = ascending and transverse colon; DFCI = Dana Farber Cancer Institute; MSKCC = Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; SPL-SIG = splenic flexure, descending and sigmoid colon; TCGA = The Cancer Genome Atlas
